Zsaz Rutkowski is a native of Long Island, New York. She began playing cello at the age of ten and started private lessons at the age of 16. She received her bachelor of music degree from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Marion Feldman. She is now in the master’s degree program in performance with Marcy Rosen at the Aaron Copland School of Music. Zsaz is the recipient of numerous awards and scholarships, and presently serves as the principal cellist of the Queens College Orchestra and is a member of the Balsam Trio. She has participated in master classes with Karen Tuttle and the Borromeo String Quartet at the NYU String Quartet Workshop. Zsaz is currently on the cello and chamber music faculty at the Manhassett School of Music. This summer she will be participating in the Institute and Festival of Contemporary Performance at Mannes College.
